On 8 May 2026 at 6.00 pm, the MuCa – Monfalcone Shipbuilding Museum will open the exhibition “Alice and Alessandro Psacaropulo: The Age of Naval Decoration”, an exhibition dedicated to the great tradition of 20th-century naval furnishings and decoration.
Organised with the support of the Autonomous Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia – Io Sono Friuli Venezia Giulia, the exhibition takes visitors on a journey through some of the most significant artistic collaborations linked to the history of Italian shipbuilding, bringing together art, design and the shipbuilding industry.
Curated by Michele Casaccia and Massimo De Grassi, the exhibition reconstructs four major shipbuilding commissions through original designs, previously unpublished documents, sketches and rare surviving pieces of furnishings. At the heart of the narrative lies the collaborative work of the painter Alice Psacaropulo and her brother Alessandro, an architect and sculptor whose body of work is now being brought back to the attention of the public and scholars.
The exhibition traces the histories of the Conte Biancamano (1949), the Oceania (1949), the Palatino (1963) and the Raffaello (1965–66), evoking the creative atmosphere of an era in which large Italian ships were veritable laboratories for artistic experimentation.
The exhibition runs until 13 September 2026.
